Box Score | POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team picked up a 4-0 win Sunday to complete a four-game series sweep of Saint Martin's.

The Broncos scored 27 runs through the first two games of the week but Sunday's series finale proved to be a pitching duel as both offenses left the score at 0-0 through the first five innings.

With a balanced and patient attack, CPP put two runs on the board in the sixth and got two more in the seventh. Meanwhile, four Broncos' pitchers - J.J. Franklin, Ryan Dunn, Andy Amaro and Cody Ponce - combined for the two-hit shutout of the Saints.

Dunn earned the win with 2.1 relief innings, in which he allowed just one hit. Franklin contributed a strong start as he finished with five innings and four strikeouts.

The two squads had plenty of scoring chances in the first half of Sunday's game but struggled with runners in scoring position.

The Broncos finally broke through in the sixth on a rally initiated by back-to-back singles from Nicholas Cooksey and Mike Philp. A double play brought in Cooksey eventually and later in the frame, Trevor Magno lined a two-out single into left to bring in Philp.

In the seventh, Jordan Whitman reached base out of the leadoff spot when he was hit by a pitch - marking the 19th and final time a batter had been hit by a pitch in the four-game series. Whitman ended up scoring on a Chris Carlson double and then with two outs, Philp lined a double to leftfield that allowed Cooksey to cross home and give the Broncos a 4-0 lead.

The host squad's bullpen didn't SMU much of a chance for a comeback as the Saints were held hitless through the final three innings.

CPP will continue its homestand on Thursday with a 2 p.m. matchup against Cal Baptist. The Lancers, competing out of the PacWest Conference, were ranked No. 4 in the preseason West Region poll with the Broncos following closely behind at No. 6.
