SAN FRANCISCO - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team took a 2-1 series lead over SF State in a Saturday doubleheader, bouncing back from a tough game one loss to take the second game 7-0 behind a stellar pitching performance from senior lefthander Ryan Dunn.

Junior outfielder Joseph Eusebio continued his hot hitting Saturday, collecting five hits between the two games to raise his series stats to 8-for-12 at the plate.

Bo Walter and Donald Walter also put together impressive offensive performances Saturday as this four-game set represents a return to the Bay Area for the two brothers from Lafayette.

The series finale between the Broncos and Gators will start at 11 a.m. Sunday. CPP currently holds marks of 16-10 overall and 9-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Game 1 Box Score | Gators 5, Broncos 4

The Broncos' offense got going quickly Saturday as Trevor Magno drew a six-pitch walk to start game one and then Bo promptly tripled to right-center to get CPP on the board.

Later in the inning, Donald placed a sacrifice fly into the outfielder to allow his brother to cross home plate.

Eusebio helped the Broncos extend their lead to 4-0 in the middle innings, tallying RBI hits in the fourth and the sixth.

Senior right-hander Kevin Bosson cruised through five scoreless innings but the Gators managed to steadily stage a comeback in the closing portion of the contest.

After cutting the lead to 4-2, SFSU scored three runs in the eighth for the decisive rally. AJ Pianto provided the go-ahead hit, a two-run and two-out single to left-center.

Game 2 Box Score | Broncos 7, Gators 0

For the seventh-straight game, the Broncos scored first in the second half of Saturday's doubleheader. It began with a two-run and two-out rally in the top of the third, which featured an RBI double from Donald.

CPP broke the game wide open in the fifth, plating four runs while knocking five-straight hits. Jordan Whitman and Donald worked hitter's counts and contributed RBI hits. Then, Chris Carlson battled through a 1-2 count by fouling off five pitches before lining a single up the middle to push the Broncos' lead to 5-0.

Making his first start of 2013, Dunn threw five scoreless innings while scattering six hits and allowing just one walk. On Friday, he contributed 1.2 scoreless relief innings in the Broncos' series-opening win over the Gators.

Junior righthander R.J. Shanks picked up where Dunn left off Saturday and the San Diego native wrapped up the 7-0 win with two scoreless innings to lower his season earned run average to 3.18.
