Box Score | POMONA, Calif. - The middle of the Cal Poly Pomona lineup kept the hits coming Friday and Kevin Bosson provided a gutsy near-complete game performance as the Broncos captured a 10-5 victory over Sonoma State to even the series at one win apiece.

The two teams will finish the four-game set with a Saturday doubleheader held at Scolinos Field in Pomona starting at 11 a.m.

Seventh-place CPP, 18-13 overall and 11-11 in conference play, is just two games out of the No. 4 spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). At 19-9 overall and 11-7 in CCAA action, Sonoma remains in third place.

The Broncos trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning Friday but rallied for four runs in their next at-bat. Seawolves' starter George Ausmus uncharacteristically lost a bit of his control and issued walks to Nick Wagner and Bo Walter.

Then with one out, Jordan Whitman lined a 1-0 pitch just along the leftfield line to score two runs and put CPP ahead 4-3. The next hitter, Donald Walter, used his speed to beat out an infield single and Whitman raced around to score on an error from the SSU shortstop. Jason Padlo capped off the four-run rally with an opposite-field single to bring in Donald Walter.

The Seawolves' offense had its chances through Friday's contest but ended up leaving 11 runners on base as Bosson worked out of multiple jams. The senior righthanded starter from Claremont went 8.2 innings while allowing 15 hits but zero walks. At 7-3 this year, Bosson is tied for the league lead in wins.

In total, the No. 3 through No. 6 hitters in the CPP lineup combined for 11 of the team's 16 hits Friday. Whitman collected a season-high four RBI in the Broncos' victory. With a two-out double in the bottom of the eighth, Bo Walter extended his hit streak to 12 games.
