Box Score | POMONA, Calif. – In front of a raucous Kellogg Gym crowd on "Pack the Stands" night, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team treated the Bronco fans to a thrilling 67-64 victory over Chico State Thursday.

With freshman Quentin Taylor providing the game-winning basket on a tip-in with five seconds to play, the CPP winning streak now moves to 10 games. Five Broncos scored in double figures as DeRonn Scott and Jordan Faison collected 12 points apiece.

Now that CPP has completed 11 of its 22 regular season games, the Broncos are positioned in second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings at 10-1. CPP has played one more contest than undefeated and first-place Cal State San Bernardino (10-0).

The Broncos and Wildcats played evenly throughout Thursday's game as the margin didn't widen beyond seven points in either direction and the score was tied on seven different occasions.

Although CPP led for the majority of the contest, Chico managed to pull even at 62-62 with 2:26 to play. Taylor dropped in a basket to put the Broncos ahead but the Wildcats came right back to tie the score again after a layup from Sean Park with 49 seconds on the clock.

Thanks to an offensive rebound, CPP got a few extra opportunities later in the final minute and Taylor followed up a Scott miss with an acrobatic tip-in as he was fouled in the process. That proved to be the game-winning basket and Taylor knocked down the resulting free throw as well.

Chico's Amir Carraway got a good look for a three-pointer at the buzzer but it didn't fall and the Broncos walked away victorious. CPP has now won five-consecutive games over the Wildcats, including four last year.

A 38-30 rebounding edge certainly helped the Broncos Thursday and leading the way was junior guard Daniel Rodriguez, who matched his career high with seven boards. Scott helped the team generate offense as he collected a career-best seven assists.

The CPP lead reached as many as seven points, when Barry Bell knocked down a jumper to extend the advantage to 60-53 with 6:06 to play. The Wildcats rattled off a 6-0 run to trim the margin to just one point and it was down to the wire from there.

Bell finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. Rodriguez and Jordan Finn also ended up with double figures as they both posted 4-for-4 efforts from the field.

The Broncos will now shift their focus to a 7:30 p.m. home game against Cal State Stanislaus. The Warriors are 7-4 in CCAA play after a loss to Humboldt State Thursday.
