Salvage Joins CPP Sports Information Staff

POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona Director of Athletics Brian Swanson announced Friday the hiring of Greg Salvage as the Interim Sports Information Coordinator.

"Greg's work ethic and enthusiasm has been a welcome addition to Bronco Athletics," Swanson said. "His ability and willingness to support our student-athletes, coaches and staff in a variety of roles, including sports information, allows us to move our program forward."

Through the 2013-14 academic year, Salvage served as an intern in the Pepperdine athletics department at the Division I level.

He also has spent time interning with Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics, including assisting in the operation of the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball West Regional hosted at Kellogg Gym.

"I am proud to be part of a program with so much tradition," Salvage said. "The athletic department and the people at Cal Poly Pomona are some of the most dedicated I have ever seen. I am eager to do everything I can to help the staff and teams as the Broncos continue to be a successful program. I would like to thank the staff and the athletic department for being so welcoming and giving me this wonderful opportunity."

Having graduated from Cal State Monterey Bay with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Communications, Salvage is nearing completion with a graduate degree in Sports Management at Long Beach State.

During his time at CSUMB, he served as the athletics facilities event coordinator. In that position, he organized and revamped the program's facility systems and equipment rooms. Salvage coordinated and completed all athletics game setup and teardown, including the same work for third-party events.

While a student in Monterey Bay, Salvage also spent two years as the Sports Center Supervisor. In that facility, he cleaned and organized the weight room and ensured the safety of all Sports Center customers.

A Thousand Oaks native, Salvage played 16 years of competitive baseball, beginning at age three and ending at CSUMB. His family includes: parents Brian and Karen; brother Chris, who is a firefighter for Ventura County; and twin sister Haleigh, who is working toward her teaching credential and graduate degree in special education for teaching the deaf and hard of hearing at California Lutheran University.
