Sophomore Kyle Goodenough finished third at the Cal State Northridge Multis, recording 6,196 points.
NORTHRIDGE & REDLANDS, Calif. - The nationally-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team competed this week at Cal State Northridge and the University of Redlands.
The Broncos posted top marks at both meets, including decathletes
Mike Hollis and
Kyle Goodenough finishing at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively at the CSUN multis.
Hollis recorded 6,575 points, putting him seventh in the CPP all-time record book for that event. Goodenough finished with 6,196 points of his own.
In terms of the indvidual events within the decathlon, Goodenough and Hollis were at their best in the long jump competition. Goodenough placed first with a height of 22-10.5 while Hollis followed in second at 22-0.75.
Hollis, a junior from Livermore, earned 597 of his points by taking first in the javelin with a throw of 165-11. Senior
Jacob Cummings also performed well at the CSUN multis as he starred in the high jump especially, capturing second in that event with a 5-10.75 mark.
James Weiner and
Louis Martin III starred in the 100-meter dash at Redlands, taking second and third respectively. The two posted season-best times of 10.81 and 10.82. Weiner and Martin also performed well in the 200, recording marks of 21.53 and 21.82.
The Broncos will return to action Friday with day one of competition at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational.
