CLAREMONT, Calif. -Â The Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team has continued to build on its strong April performances Saturday at the Pomona Pitzer Invite in Claremont.
The Broncos' 4x100 relay set the tone early, capturing first place at the meet with a mark of 41.12. That provisional qualifier stands as the eighth-best time in school history and the best mark since 2007. Â The relay featured

Austin Braunschweiger.
Junior
Justin Ellerbee continued his 2014 undefeated streak in the pole vault Saturday. He also broke his own school record, posting a first-place height of 16-10.75 that is an automatic qualifier for nationals. Now ranking at No. 3 nationally at the Division II level for the pole vault, Ellerbee will compete at the D-II National Championships to be held May 22 through May 24 in Allendale, Mich.
Also coming up big in the pole vault Saturday was
Austin Allen, who registered a 16-4.75 provisional to move into the No. 2 position for CPP all-time behind Ellerbee.
In the later stages of Saturday's meet, the CPP 4x400 relay captured first place with a stellar time of 3:16.31 - less than two seconds off a provisional qualifier. In that winning relay were
Brian Crane,
Brandon Washington, Weiner and Martin III.
Also on the track, Salgado ran a season-best 48.79 in the 400-meter dash to finish ninth overall. Crane posted a 49.41 in that event. The Broncos will return to action Thursday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
