AZUSA & WALNUT, Calif. -Â With the multi-event portion of the Bryan Clay Invite concluding Thursday, Cal Poly Pomona sophomore
Kyle Goodenough finished with an impressive decathlon score of 6,362 points.
The mark puts Goodenough at No. 10 on the Broncos' record book and also earns him a provisional qualifying mark. His teammate
Mike Hollis also owns a decathlon point total above 6,000 this year with a 6,575 showing at Cal State Northridge in March.
Overall in the final decathlon standings Thursday, Goodenough placed fourth while outperforming several Division I competitors. The Chino Hills native captured first place in the long jump during day one of the multis on Wednesday, posting a distance of 22-4.25. Goodenough also fared well in the running events, recording a 11.53 mark in the 100, 51.53 in the 400 and a second-place time of 4:29.87 in the 1,500-meter run.
Two other Broncos were in action Thursday at the Mt. SAC Relays. Senior
Aiden Irish raced in the 10,000-meter event, crossing the line in 31:38.62. Fellow distance runner
Brandon Haugen competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished in 9:37.28.
The CPP track and field student-athletes will also be busy Friday at the Bryan Clay Invite held in Cougar Athletic Stadium on the Azusa Pacific campus. That meet runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The meet program for the Bryan Clay Invite can beÂ
