Hollis, Goodenough at Top of CCAA Decathlon Standings

LA JOLLA, Calif. - With Mike Hollis and Kyle Goodenough leading the way on Thursday, the Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team is off to a strong start at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships.

Through day one of the decathlon, Hollis and Goodenough are No. 1 and No. 2 in the standings. Hollis recorded 3,439 points with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash while Goodenough tallied 3,424 points after taking first in the high jump.

Also competing in the decathlon for CPP is Jacob Cummings, who collected 3,154 points Thursday.

The Broncos' trio of decathletes achieved several season bests, including Goodenough's third-place time of 11.39 in the 100-meter dash, Hollis' 400-meter performance of 50.07 for 811 points and then Cummings' height of 6-1.25 in the high jump.

On Friday, starting with the decathlon's 110 hurdles and heptathlon long jump start at 10 a.m. The individual field events, all finals, commence with the men's hammer at 12 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. with the women's javelin. The action on the track gets underway at 2:30 p.m. with preliminary heats of the women's 1500, and will end with the men's 10,000-meter final at 6:25 p.m.
