POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's volleyball team defeated the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay 3-1 at Kellogg Arena on Thursday in the annual "Breast Cancer Awareness Match."  With the win, head coach
Rosie Wegrich collected her 400th win as a Bronco.

Senior
Alexa Hasen moved into fifth place on the all-time single-match attack percentage list after posting a mark of .700. The previous record, owned by her and set on Oct. 11, 2014, was .682.

CPP moves into fourth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a record of 8-5. They improve to 12-9 overall on the year. CSUEB drops to 2-11 in CCAA play and 4-17 overall.

The Green and Gold won the first set 25-19. Early in the set, the two teams traded points and were in a tightly matched contest. With the score tied at 11, the Broncos made their move. They went on a 7-3 run to push the lead to 18-14. The Broncos, after a Pioneer point, received a huge kill from freshman
Kristen Hamlin before closing out the set.

In set two, CPP picked up right where they left off going on a 10-2 run to open the set. After two points by the Pioneers, the Broncos put the game out of reach extending the lead to 20-7 before winning the set 25-12.

Set three was the most competitive of the night. After a long intermission, highlighted by speeches by two breast cancer survivors, CSUEB jumped out to an early 10-4 lead. The Green and Gold were able to get within three at 24-21, but the Pioneers secured the final point and the set win.

Heading into set No. 4 up by one set, the Broncos' offense came to life early. With the game evenly matched again, Hasen stepped up for the Broncos and picked up five of her seven kills in the set. The Green and Gold went on to win the set and match at 25-19, securing another conference victory.

The Broncos' offense posted a season-high attack percentage of .306 as opposed to .152 from the visiting Pioneers.

Alina Smith tallied 31 assists in the contest. Sophomore
Samantha Figueroa registered 16 digs for the Broncos.

Up next, the Broncos will host the San Francisco State Gators in the annual "Special Olympics Recognition Match" at Kellogg Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
