AZUSA, Calif. – Despite a career-high 31 points from
Terrence Drisdom, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team suffered a 77-67 loss to Azusa Pacific Saturday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The CPP record settles at 24-7 as it marks the third-consecutive season that the Broncos have fallen in the second round. It concludes a memorable season for CPP, winner of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships tournament.
Saturday's defeat also marks the final collegiate game for the Broncos' five seniors. Drisdom wraps up his career with 1,201 points, which ranks eighth all-time in program history. He totaled 80 steals this season, ranking second among the CPP single-season records. Through his career, he collected 187 steals - also at No. 2 on the Broncos' all-time leaderboard.

The Broncos scored the game's first basket with a jumper from
Jordan Faison on the first possession. APU bounced back in a big way though, using its efficient three-point shooting to put together an 8-0 run a few minutes later.
CPP earned high-percentage looks in the post early and sank those attempts, but meanwhile the Cougars caught fire from beyond the arc. The largest lead of the half came at the 10:35 mark, when APU held a 28-15 edge.
The Broncos built up momentum late in the period, with a key three-pointer from

The lead bounced up and down throughout the second half and it widened in the Cougars' favor as far as 17 points a few different times and as late as the 6:09 mark.
CPP put together a 7-0 run that was capped off by a
Quentin Taylor triple at the 3:17 mark, bringing the difference to 71-62.
