Brooks Secures Double-Double in @CPPWBB Loss

CARSON, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team dropped its Satuday night contest to the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros 92-68. The Broncos had four members of its squad reach double-digit points in the game.

Leading the way for the Green and Gold with a double-double in the matchup was Priscilla Brooks, as the sophomore secured 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Joining Brooks in the double-digit category were Jackie Ricketson, who tallied 14 points, Mary Williams, who had a team-high 75% shooting on her 12 point performance, and Jordyn Shane, who sank seven free throws en route to her 11 points.

Ricketson and Williams were second on squad with seven rebounds each.

As a team, the Green and Gold recorded a 41.8% shooting from the field as they sank 23-of-55 shots taken. The Broncos also racked up 36 rebounds in the contest.

CPP was adept at dishing out the ball amongst the team however, as they recorded 10 total assists in the contest. Leading the Broncos in that category was Marshanique Hall, who racked up four assists on top of her four rebounds.

After the three ties in the game's opening minutes, the Broncos trailed the remainder. CPP pulled even at 2-2, 4-4, and 6-6, but then a Toro three and subsequent jumper left the Broncos back.

CSUDH carried momentum through the entire matchup and heading into the halftime break, the Broncos trailed 43-22. The Toros put together an eight-point run, six-point run, and a pair of five-pointers broken up only by a basket or a basket and free throw by the CPP offense.

The second half did see the Broncos find a solid groove, but by then the Toros' lead was insurmountable by the young CPP squad. In the second half, the Broncos outperformed their first half point total 46-22.

CPP's bench scored 23 points in the game and had 49 on court points. Twenty of the Broncos' points were in the paint and they outscored the hometown Toros on second-chance points, scoring 12 of them.

The Green and Gold will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 23 as they host the Humboldt State Jacks at Kellogg Arena.  Final score for the Jacks in their Saturday night contest against the Cal State LA Golden Eagles was 65-63 in the Jacks' favor.
