@CPPMBB Hits Road to Play Seawolves, Gators

POMONA, Calif. – With a third-place standing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team will head north to challenge both the Sonoma Seawolves and the San Francisco State Gators.

The first contest the Broncos will play will take place on Friday as CPP tips off at 7:30 against the Seawolves. The game will be held at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park and is the first and only matchup of the regular season for the two squads.

All-time, the series between the Broncos and the Seawolves stands almost 2-1 in the Green and Gold's favor. CPP has won 29 contests and the SSU squad has won 15. The Broncos will be heading north with a season record of 16-4 and a 9-4 mark in the CCAA. Sonoma sits in sixth place in conference with a 7-6 record.

After heading up to play the Seawolves, CPP will set its sights on the San Francisco State Gators. Come Saturday, the Green and Gold will make its way to the Bay for a 7:30 start against the SFSU squad.

Thus far, San Francisco has secured a conference record of 5-8 en route to their season tally of 11-8. Saturday's contest will be the only regular season matchup between the Broncos and the Gators this season.

Total in the all-time series, the two squads have played each other 51 times. Of those 51 matchups, the Broncos have secured the victory 37 times.

During the 2014-15 season, the Broncos won both of the contests against the Gators. The first meeting, CPP's annual Pack the Gym game saw the Green and Gold double the Gators' score at 64-32.  Just over a month later, the Broncos again would top the Gators, this time in overtime and with a final score of 64-57.

Once this weekend's play is concluded, the Broncos will have just five more regular season contests, including three home games at Kellogg Arena. Next week will feature the Green and Gold hosting Cal State Monterey Bay for Faculty Staff Appreciation Night on Thursday, then Cal State East Bay for Special Olympics Recognition Night on Saturday.

Following those two contests CPP will hit the road for two games, then return home for the regular season finale with Homecoming Game and Senior Night against the Cougars of Cal State San Marcos on Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
