POMONA, Calif. – The nationally-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team continues to hold third place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with five regular season games remaining. This week, the Broncos host a pair of matchups at Kellogg Arena against the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters and the Cal State East Bay Pioneers.
Tipoff starts at 7:30 p.m. against the Otters on Thursday and CPP carries an 18-4 overall record into that game. The Broncos are 11-4 in CCAA action this year, trailing only UC San Diego (13-2) and Chico State (12-2).
Winning all but one home game thus far in the season, the Broncos are looking forward to their home court advantage for both contests this week. Monterey Bay holds the sixth-place standing in the CCAA, with an overall record of 10-11.
After facing the Otters, the Green and Gold will take on East Bay on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Pioneers hold an overall record of 8-15. Earlier in the 2015-16 season, CPP defeated East Bay 74-64 in Hayward.
Thursday's game against Monterey Bay is also CPP Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night with select honorees recognized and thanked for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the Green and Gold. Saturday's game against East Bay will be Special Olympics Recognition Night.
Cal Poly Pomona only has five games left for the 2015-16 regular season. Next week, the Broncos will be back on the road to face Chico on Feb. 19 and Stanislaus on Feb. 20. The Homecoming Game and Senior Night will be held against the Cal State San Marcos Cougars on Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
The CCAA Tournament will begin with first-round action at campus sites on Tuesday, March 1. The semifinal and final rounds will be held in Stockton, Calif.
In the latest NCAA Division II national rankings, CPP is featured at No. 14. The first official NCAA D-II West Region rankings will be unveiled on Wednesday, Feb. 17 on NCAA.com.
Food Drive at CPPThe Cal Poly Pomona Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting a February Food Drive
this week to raise awareness to the prevalence of hunger in communities surrounding the 12 institutions in the Broncos' conference (CCAA).
