Ivan Alber Earns Outstanding Staff Award

POMONA, Calif. – After recently completing his sixth year at Cal Poly Pomona, Assistant Athletics Director Ivan Alber has earned the 2015-16 Outstanding Staff Award provided by Staff Council.

In addition to overseeing the marketing, game management and sports information areas, Alber has also served on several university committees in the past year: Strategic Planning Subcommittee, Homecoming Executive Committee, and the Large Scale Campus Events Task Force.

"Ivan Alber has and continues to ensure Bronco Athletics is a well-known and well-respected leader in collegiate athletics," Director of Athletics Brian Swanson said. "His dedication, professionalism and commitment to service was recognized by his recognition as an Outstanding Staff Award recipient. Ivan has been at the forefront of change that has advanaced Bronco Athletics to new heights. We are better as an organization with Ivan on our team!"

During the Fall 2015, Alber was part of the tournament staff when CPP soccer hosted the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament and West Regional events. Broncos' men's soccer captured the titles at both of those levels, finishing as the NCAA Division II National Runner-Up.

The Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics department completed another successful year with all 10 teams advancing to the postseason.

Just recently in the Division of Student Affairs, Director of Athletics Brian Swanson earned the Vice President's Leadership Award and men's soccer head coach Yossi Raz was named the division's Star of the Year.

Joining Alber in receiving the 2015-16 Outstanding Staff Award were Debbie Jackley (Student Health & Counseling Services), Elena Aleman (VP of Student Affairs Office), and Erick Zelaya (eLearning).
