HAYWARD, Calif. – Behind Jeremey Dennis' team high 15 points, the Broncos earned their fourth straight California Collegiate Athletic Association win on Saturday night, defeating Cal State East Bay 67-60 on the road.
The Broncos have turned their season around in the second half of the year as they fight for a playoff spot, improving to 7-10 overall and 5-8 in the CCAA. The loss drops the Pioneers to 12-9, 5-8 CCAA.
Trailing for a majority of the night, Dennis worked his way inside the paint for a layup, giving the Broncos a 44-43 advantage with 9:30 left on the clock, their first lead since the 13-minute mark in the first half.
After that is was all CPP as the Broncos worked an 11-point lead with just seconds to go to keep the winning streak alive for one more week.
Right behind Dennis was
Chris Sullivan with 13 points followed by
Nikhil Peters with nine points while
William Christmas added five points and a team high eight rebounds.
Defensively, the Broncos had a stellar night forcing 12 turnovers and holding the Pioneers to a 29 shooting percentage and a 9-for-31 mark from three-point range.
Jalen Richard led CSUEB with a game high 20 points followed by Juwan Anderson with 13 points and Paramvir Singh with eight points.
The Broncos will return home to Kellogg Arena next Thursday as they play host to Cal State Dominguez Hills and host Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday. Start time for both games set for 7:30 p.m.
