POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team inked Camarillo High School guard Madeline Weight as the first member of the 2018-19 recruiting class.
A 5-8 point guard from Camarillo, Calif., Weight comes to Cal Poly Pomona after a successful high school career. As a four-year starter on varsity, Weight led her league in assists as a freshman, sophomore, and junior, setting her school's career assist record during her third year.
Through her first three years at Camarillo, Weight has helped her team to a Pacific View League title in all three years, going undefeated in league play her freshman and junior seasons.
"Madeline is a competitor. She has a high basketball IQ and has a knack for putting the ball in the hoop," said Head Coach
Danelle Bishop. "Madi sees the floor extremely well and is a true team player all around."
As a sophomore, she was named to Second-Team All-League as she led her county in assists. In her junior year, Weight received Second-Team All-Ventura County, leading her team to an appearance in the California State Elite Eight. Weight was also chosen for the Under Armor Cup All-Star Game in Louisville.
"She comes from an awesome family, values her education and will be a wonderful addition to our Bronco Family."
As team captain in her season year, the Camarillo Scorpions are off to a strong start at 4-1 overall. She enters CPP as a Graphic Design major.
