NCAA Division II United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For just the second time in the history of the program, the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team has been nationally-ranked in the middle of the season, coming in this week at No. 25 in the NCAA Division II United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, it was announced by the organization Tuesday.

Winners in seven of their last eight matches, the Broncos sport an 8-3-0 overall record and are third in the CCAA standings at 4-1.  The national ranking of No. 25 matches the 2017 team for the highest in-season rank for the program; the 1999 team that reached the National Championship match as an unranked team, appeared in the final poll at No. 2 that season, then in 2014 when the Broncos earned a spot in the Sweet 16 as another unranked team, came in at No. 16, also in the final poll.

Junior forward Taylor Scott leads the offensive charge for the Broncos in 2019 with a CCAA-best seven goals, including a five game-winning goals, which leads all of NCAA Division II.  Sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Williams also appears in the national statistical reports as having the fifth-best goals against average at .033, giving up three goals in 811 minutes this season.  Williams is also third in the nation in save percentage, stopping 90.6 percent of the shots she has faced.

Two other CCAA teams appear in this week's NCAA Division II United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll -- UC San Diego at No. 2 and Sonoma State at No. 21.

Cal Poly Pomona will put its national ranking on the line Thursday when it hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills at Kellogg Stadium, kicking off at 4:30 pm.  The Broncos will then host Cal State LA Sunday at 11:30 am, when CPP will recognize the 1999 squad and the 20-year anniversary of their runner-up finish at the National Championships that year.
