NCAA DIVISION II REGIONAL RANKINGS

INDIANAPOLIS --
The Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team has been ranked at No. 9 in the first official NCAA Division II Super Region 4 rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA.

With a new NCAA Tournament format for NCAA Division II men's soccer this year, the Top 10 teams from each of the four Super Regions across the country will qualify for postseason play.  The West Region, which includes the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the Pacific West Conference, is merged together with the South Central Region that includes teams from the Lone Star Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) to create Super Region 4.  An updated bracket to show the new NCAA Tournament format can be found HERE.

The Broncos (8-4-2) are looking to make their third straight trip to the NCAA Final Four, and should they maintain their ranking as one of the Top 10 teams in Super Region 4 when the 40-team NCAA tournament field is announced on Nov. 18th, CPP will have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight season.

The announcement of the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Tournament will come via a live selection show at NCAA.com on Nov. 18th at 3:30 pm Pacific Time. The NCAA will continue to release updated Super Regional rankings at NCAA.com every Wednesday afternoon leading up to the Nov. 18th selection show.

Undefeated and the No. 1 team in the nation, Azusa Pacific, grabbed the top spot in the regional ranking with a 12-0-0 record against Division II opponents.  Cal State LA (12-0-1) checks in at No. 2, St. Mary's-Texas (11-2-1) at No. 3, Midwestern State (11-2-0) at No. 4, Cal State San Bernardino (9-2-2) at No. 5, Western Washington (9-3-1) at No. 6, UC San Diego (12-3-0) at No. 7 and Texas A&M-International (8-3-1) at No. 8 ahead of CPP at No. 9.  Eastern New Mexico rounds out the Top 10 at 8-4-1.  On the outside looking in, Chico State (8-4-0) is No. 11 and Westminster-Utah (10-4-2) is No. 12.

With just three regular season matches left in 2019, Cal Poly Pomona has won eight of its last 10 and currently sits in second place in the CCAA standings with an average of 2.44 points per match.  Due to Public Safety Power Shutoff events and intense wildfires that have again plagued the state of California and forced cancellation of recent soccer matches between conference opponents, the CCAA will revise its procedure for men's and women's soccer standings and seedings for the 2019 season.  Read the CCAA's release HERE.

The Broncos will play its final two regular season home matches this weekend, beginning with a Friday tilt with Cal State East Bay (4:30 pm), followed by Senior Day on Sunday against Cal State Monterey Bay (11:30 am).
