INDIANAPOLIS -- After a sixth place finish at regionals this past Saturday, the Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team has earned an at-large bid into the 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:00 am Pacific Time in Sacramento, Calif., it was announced by the NCAA Monday. The Broncos will be making their fifth all-time appearance at Nationals in program history, and their third in the past four seasons.
The championship race will be held at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. The list of advancing teams and individuals is outlined below.
Chico State, Northwest Nazarene and Cal State East Bay grabbed the West Region's automatic bids by virtue of finishing in the Top 3 of the regional meet this past weekend in Monmouth, Ore. Alaska Anchorage, Seattle Pacific and Western Washington also qualified for the NCAA Championships with an at-large bid; UAA placed fourth and SPU fifth in the regional on Saturday while the Broncos took sixth, followed by WWU in seventh.
The CPP men earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships with its second place finish at the Regional meet in Oregon on Saturday. It will be just the third time in CPP history that the Broncos will send both the men's and women's cross country teams to Nationals in the same year.
