CHICO, Calif. -- Cal Poly Pomona freshman outside hitter
Jazminn Parrish has been voted the 2019 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Volleyball Freshman of the Year, and both Parrish and sophomore setter
Kira Zimmerman captured All-CCAA Second Team honors, highlighting Wednesday's release of the annual CCAA All-Conference Team.
Parrish, a native of Bellflower, Calif., ended the season third in the CCAA in kills per set (3.37) while leading the team in total kills (303). She recorded double-digit kills in 18 of the 24 matches she played in this season.
It is the third time in the last five years that a Cal Poly Pomona volleyball player has been named the top freshman in the conference.
Zimmerman, from Redondo Beach, Calif., finished her sophomore campaign ranked third in the CCAA in assists per set with 9.03, a total of 804 assists in 89 sets. She also finished second on the team in service aces (23) and digs (217).
Cal Poly Pomona wrapped up the regular season last weekend with an 8-16 overall record, placing tenth in the CCAA standings at 6-11 against league opponents.
