Baseball Snags #5 Seed For NCAA West Regional

INDIANAPOLIS --
The CCAA Tournament champion Cal Poly Pomona baseball team earned the No. 5 seed in the 2019 NCAA Division II West Regional Championship Tournament and will open on Thursday in Azusa against No. 4 seed Cal State Monterey Bay in a rematch of the conference championship game. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

Azusa Pacific earned the top seed in the West Region and will serve as host for the West Regional #1, awaiting the winner of Thursday's first-round winner between CPP and CSUMB. 

The winner of the West Regional #1 bracket will meet the winner of the West Regional #2 bracket in the West Super Regional for a best-of-3 series the following weekend. No. 2 seed UC San Diego serves as the host of the West Regional #2 bracket where No. 3 seed Point Loma and No. 6 seed Montana State Billings will open up the first round, also on Thursday.

Cal Poly Pomona reached the NCAA Tournament this season by virtue of the CCAA's automatic qualification for winning the conference tournament.  It will be the Broncos' sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last nine seasons.
