Former Bronco Garlick Gets Big League Call Up

5/17/2019 10:20:00 AM

LOS ANGELES -- Former Cal Poly Pomona baseball student-athlete Kyle Garlick is headed to the big leagues. The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Friday that Garlick, who was an All-American for the Broncos in his only season in the Green and Gold back in 2015, has been promoted from Triple-A Oklahoma City and will be in uniform for Friday's game in Cincinnati.

Garlick becomes the 11th former CPP Bronco to appear on a major league roster, and the second to wear a Dodgers uniform; Mike Munoz (1985-86) appeared in 11 games as a pitcher for Los Angeles from 1989 to 1990. Click HERE to see the other CPP major leaguers.

A native of nearby Chino Hills, Calif., and former standout at Chino Hills High School, Garlick came to CPP for his senior season in 2015 after three years at NCAA Division I Oregon and immediately proved to be one of the most explosive hitters in Division II that year.  The outfielder hit .358 and led the CCAA with a program-record 17 home runs and 56 runs batted in, en route to American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-America honors before being drafted by the Dodgers in the 28th round (852nd overall) of the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

As a member of the Triple-A OKC Dodgers this season, Garlick is slashing .280/.375/.627 with 10 home runs and 20 RBI through 35 games. Click HERE to see his stats through his minor league career.
