Volleyball Ranked 20th In AVCA National Poll

AVCA DIVISION II TOP 25 PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

LEXINGTON, Ky. --
Coming off of one of its best seasons in a decade, scoring 24 victories, the most since 2005, and making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team will begin the 2019 season ranked No. 20 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced by the organization Tuesday.

The 20th-ranked Broncos will open the 2019 campaign at the Concordia Portland Volleyball Classic in Oregon, beginning with a Sept. 6 matchup against Western Oregon at 4:30 pm.  Cal Poly Pomona then hosts the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase the following weekend at Kellogg Arena in Pomona (Sept. 12-14) which features one other nationally-ranked team in No. 3 Western Washington, the 2018 National Runner-Up.  Another team participating in the Showcase, Chaminade, is also receiving votes in the national preseason poll.

Fellow CCAA member Cal State San Bernardino will begin the season at No. 2 in the country and Cal State LA opens at No. 19.
