POMONA -- Tom Ash, who was the first head volleyball coach at Cal Poly Pomona in the early 1980's, passed away April 13, he was 67 years old.

Ash led the CPP volleyball squad for four seasons from 1980 to 1983, compiling a 100-62 overall record including a 29-10 mark in 1983 that led the Broncos to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.

"I met Tom at our alumni match in 2018," said current head volleyball coach Traci Dahl. "He had so many great things to say about Cal Poly Pomona and our program and was at most of our games since then supporting the team. He will be greatly missed."
