POMONA -- As virtual instruction continued during the fall semester in 2020, the Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes persevered yet again, posting a remarkable department-wide grade point average of 3.35 amidst external distractions and, of course, the on-going COVID-19 global pandemic.
Of the 241 student-athletes enrolled at CPP in the fall, 188 earned a grade point average of 3.00 or better, encompassing 78 percent of the department. Additionally, 96 Broncos made the Dean's List with a 3.50 GPA or better.
"Once again CPP student-athletes have shown outstanding academic success in the classroom," said Assistant Athletics Director for Student Services
Scott Tsuji. "This is an example of the continuing commitment and quality in our student-athletes, coaches, and department. We are proud of their achievements."
All 10 teams sponsored by the CPP athletics department boasted team GPA's of 3.0 or higher for the first time in program history, led by a record-breaking 3.60 team GPA set by the volleyball team, topping the previous department record of 3.59 set by women's soccer last spring.
