OFFICIAL RESULTS
CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Vincent Sarino earned his first career Top 10 finish on Saturday, placing sixth overall out of 138 runners, leading the Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team to third place on Saturday morning at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont.
Sarino traversed the eight-kilometer Pomona College campus course in 25:14.3, just 25 seconds behind individual race champion Santiago Hardy of Antelope Valley. Sarino was second among NCAA Division II runners in the field, crossing the line just four seconds back of Azusa Pacific's Joshua Velasco. He posted the fifth-best time by a CPP runner in the history of the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational as the Broncos have competed in the race eight other times since 2009.
Nicholas Albro was the second CPP finisher, securing a personal-best time in an 8K, crossing the line at 25:34.8 and placing 13th overall.
Gideon Pichardo was the only other Bronco to net a personal record on Saturday, taking home 17th place with a time of 25:38.3.

Daniel Echeveste (26:04.6; 28th),
Francisco Zavaleta (26:09.0; 31st),
Alejandro Mariscal (26:26.7; 43rd),
Leandro Candray (27:18.6; 65th) and
David Dahl (27:24.1; 68th) were the top 10 placers for CPP.
Evan Smith and
Trevor Benson ran their first career race Saturday; Smith placed 69th overall with a time of 27:25.1 and Benson came in 122nd at 29:48.2.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title, scoring a 32 with five of its runners placing in the overall Top 11. Azusa Pacific was the runner-up with 48 points, just ahead of third-place Cal Poly Pomona with 77.
Saturday served as the final tune-up for Cal Poly Pomona before the CCAA Championships on Oct. 23 in San Marcos.
