2020-21 CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT® WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM
GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Cal Poly Pomona junior
Allyssa Larkin and senior
Samantha Putnam have been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for their combined efforts on the field and in the classroom.
Larkin, from Las Vegas, Nev., was second on the team in 2019 with 15 total points from three goals and team- and CCAA-leading nine assists, which matched the single-season program record. She earned CCAA Honorable Mention accolades playing a key role in the Broncos' 13-win campaign in the fall of 2019 that saw CPP get to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. In the classroom, Larkin sports a 3.87 grade point average as an Electrical Engineering major.
This is the second consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-District honor for Larkin, who becomes the third women's soccer student-athlete in the history of CPP athletics to earn the award twice in a career, and the first since 2007.
Putnam, a native of Tacoma, Wash., is a three-time CCAA All-Academic Award winner and appeared in 47 career games, making 15 starts for CPP, scoring four goals and adding three assists. She contributed in 28 wins over her three-year Bronco career, also playing a key role in CPP's return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014.
With a 3.84 grade point average as a Business major, this is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District award for Putnam, and the ninth CPP women's soccer student-athlete in school history to earn the honor.
Both Larkin and Putnam will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early July.
To be nominated for such award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form. The student-athlete must have also completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility. Once a student-athlete is nominated by the Sports Information Director (SID) at his/her current institution, SID's from around the country vote on the All-District and All-America ballots.
CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
