COMPLETE 2021 CAL POLY POMONA VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

POMONA --
It will have been 656 days since the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team last played a match when the Broncos take to the newly-refurbished Kellogg Arena hardwood on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 pm to open their 2021 championship season.  In conjunction with the CCAA, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball squad announced its upcoming fall schedule Wednesday.

The Broncos will host the Broncos Fall Classic, a five-team affair featuring Cal State Dominguez Hills, Concordia-Irvine, Western New Mexico, Western Oregon and, of course, CPP.  It will begin Thursday, Sept. 2 when Western Oregon and Concordia-Irvine face off at 4:00 pm, followed by CPP's opener against Western New Mexico at 7:00 pm.  Friday, Sept. 3 will feature four matches, followed by three more on Saturday, Sept. 4.  The following weekend, CPP will host an abbreviated tournament alongside four other southern California schools that will serve as hosts.

The conference schedule gets underway when the Broncos head to northern California for matches at Stanislaus State on Friday, Sept. 17 and at Chico State on Saturday, Sept. 18.  CPP returns home on Friday, Sept. 24 for its conference home-opener against Cal State San Marcos.

New in 2021, teams will play an 18-match conference slate that is randomly generated, rather than competing in North/South divisions.  Cal Poly Pomona will play nine conference games at home, nine on the road.  Half of the 18 matches will start at 7:00 pm, while the rest have been moved to earlier start times to better accommodate travel for visiting teams.  One of the marquee matchups for the Broncos will be a mid-week contest at home against the reigning 2019 NCAA Division II National Champions, Cal State San Bernardino.  The Broncos and Coyotes will square off at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 13 before the two teams meet again three days later on Saturday, Oct. 16 in San Bernardino.

The regular season will culminate with the 2021 CCAA Volleyball Tournament, an eight-team, single-elimination event at Coussoulis Arena on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino on Nov. 18-20.  Those selected for the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Tournament will then compete in the West Regional on Dec. 2-4 (at a site to determined later) for the right to advance as one of the top eight teams in the nation to the NCAA Division II Championships on Dec. 9-11 in Tampa, Fla.

With COVID-19 cases rising across the country, particularly here in Los Angeles County, Cal Poly Pomona will continue to follow state and local health guidelines.  Decisions regarding the status of the aforementioned contests and/or policies regarding fan attendance will be made closer to the start of the season, and may change frequently throughout the fall.

Every CPP match will feature live stats and the majority (if not all) of the matches will have a live video stream.  All home matches, and all CCAA contests, home and away, and will be broadcasted on the CCAA Network, which can be accessed on the web at www.ccaanetwork.com or by downloading the CCAA Network app on your iOS or Android smartphone, tablet, or through web streaming devices such as Amazon Fire, Roku or Apple TV.

Cal Poly Pomona returns 10 student-athletes to this year's roster from the 2019 team, including 2018 AVCA All-American setter Kira Zimmerman and the 2019 CCAA Freshman of the Year Jazminn Parrish.
