OFFICIAL RESULTS
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Leandro Candray opened his collegiate career with an impressive outing, finishing in 10th place out of 209 participants with an eight-kilometer time of 25:21.7 to lead the Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team to a fifth place finish out of 21 teams on Friday morning at the Biola Invitational at Ted Craig Regional Park in Fullerton.
In their first race in 657 days, the Broncos scored 83 points as a team to finish behind host and Invite champion Biola (45), Cal State San Marcos (46), Azusa Pacific (81) and The Master's College (82).
Candray led nine other CPP runners in the meet, four of which also saw their first college action.
Vincent Sarino took 16th place with a time of (25:33.3), followed by
Diego Duran (25:42.8) in 19th,
Daniel Echeveste (25:49.3) in 21st,
Gideon Pichardo (26:05.6) in 27th,
Nicholas Albro (26:15.9) in 30th,
Francisco Zavaleta (26:55.7) in 52nd,
Alejandro Mariscal (27:46.3) in 84th,
Christian Coley (28:02.8) in 96th and
David Dahl (28:09.6) in 100th. Of the returners, Pichardo set a personal best on Friday out of his four collegiate races.
Cal Poly Pomona will return to action in two weeks on Sept. 25 at the Cougar Challenge at Walnut Gove Park in San Marcos.
