OFFICIAL RESULTS
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Vincent Sarino led the Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team to a sixth place finish out of nine teams in Saturday's Cougar Challenge, hosted by Cal State San Marcos at the site of next month's CCAA Championships.
Sarino was the top CPP finisher, running a 25:10.1 on the eight-kilometer course to finish 18th out of 123 runners.
Seven of the nine Broncos that competed on Saturday recorded personal records on an 8K course, including
Diego Duran (25:18.5; 29th place),
Daniel Echeveste (25:23.3; 31st),
Nicholas Albro (25:38.0; 39th),
Christian Coley (25:41.0; 41st),
Francisco Zavaleta (26:03.0; 60th),
Gideon Pichardo (26:04.2; 63rd), and
David Dahl (27:19.8; 95th).
Alejandro Mariscal placed ahead of Dahl in 70th place, running the course in 26:21.5.
As a team, CPP scored 132 points, finishing behind race champion Pomona-Pitzer (50), Chico State (52), Cal State San Marcos (96), Stanislaus State (98) and Azusa Pacific (99).
Cal Poly Pomona will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont.
