PHILADELPHIA -- Former Cal Poly Pomona baseball student-athlete Kyle Dohy has been called up by the Philadelphia Phillies and is now on the 40-man Major League roster for the ball club heading into the final week of the MLB regular season.

Dohy, a left-handed pitcher who spent one season at Cal Poly Pomona in 2017, becomes the 13th former CPP baseball player to occupy an active roster spot on a Major League Baseball team, and is the third former Bronco currently with a Big League club, joining Kyle Garlick (Minnesota) and Cody Ponce (Pittsburgh).

In his only season in the Green and Gold in 2017, Dohy, a native of Covina, Calif., went 6-3 with a 5.99 ERA in 16 starts with 89 strikeouts and 60 walks in 79-2/3 innings of work.  Since being drafted by Philadelphia in the 16th round (473rd overall) in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Dohy has appeared in 141 games in the Minor Leagues, all in relief, going 20-15 with a 3.69 ERA and 15 saves in 197-2/3 innings, striking out 303.  Just this season, spending time between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, he pitched in 32 games (42-2/3 innings) and was 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA and 65 strikeouts.
