OFFICIAL RESULTS
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Arissa Hatcher was the team's top finisher for the first time in her career, running a personal-best time to place 55th overall out of 224 participants as the Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team took 11th out of 29 teams, highlighting Saturday's action at the NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals race at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash., the site of this year's national meet in December.
Hatcher shaved eight seconds off her previous best six-kilometer time, crossing the line in 22:31.1.
Bridget Edwards placed 66th overall with a PR time of 22:40.8 and
Victoria Escanuelas took 71st, also with a PR time, finishing in 22:45.5 as the Broncos' top three finishers. Edwards took four seconds off her previous-best time, while Escanuelas knocked 51 seconds off her previous-best.
Samantha Aguilar (22:48.0; 72nd overall),
Angela Arellano (22:51.4; 75th),
Alisa Moradian (22:59.3; 83rd),
Lauren Jauregui (23:03.1; 88th),
Svetlana Martin (23:05.9; 91st),
Vivian Martinez (23:18.8; 100th) and
Paige Moore (24:04.7; 140th) all finished ahead of more than half of the field. Martin's time was also a new personal record, besting her previous time by nine seconds.
As a team, the Broncos scored 302 points, placing behind 10 other teams, including seven NCAA Division II West Region squads. Colorado School of Mines won the team event, scoring 37 points, placing four Top 10 finishers. Western Colorado (88 points), Biola (151), Chico State (194) and Cal State East Bay (213) rounded out the Top 5 teams.
The NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals race served as the final regular season tuneup for Cal Poly Pomona, which now sets its sights on the 2022 CCAA Championships in two weeks on Nov. 5 at the new Palo Corona Trail in Carmel.
Bronco Bits
- Saturday marks the 28th meet for head coach Chris Bradford in his fifth season at CPP (six years overall).
- Samantha Aguilar has now run in 20 career meets, which is tied for the 18th-most in program history; she remains at 14th all-time in career winning percentage (71.7 percent).
- CPP has raced three other times in history on October 22nd, all three were CCAA Championship meets (2005, 2011, 2016).
