NCAA DIVISION II WEST REGION TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
ARCHIVED VIDEO BROADCAST

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The 20th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team saw its incredible season come to an end Friday with a 3-0 loss to Chaminade in the semifinal round of the 2022 NCAA Division II West Regional Tournament hosted by Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash. Set scores were 29-27, 25-17, 25-21.

The No. 4 seed Broncos, who captured their first CCAA Tournament title in program history just last weekend, finish with a 24-6 overall record. The No. 8 seed Silverswords (26-7) will play for the regional title for the first time in their program's history on Saturday evening against No. 3 seed Cal State LA, which swept Central Washington in the other semifinal on Friday.

Find out what head coach Traci Dahl, senior Erin McFarland, and sophomores Avery Percival and Caitie Mueller had to say about Friday's season-ending loss by clicking HERE.

The first set was extremely close until CPP managed to go on a seven-point run to take a 20-14 lead. However, Chaminade found its stride and rallied to tie the set at 24-24. The teams would go point for point until it was 27-27 and the Silverswords got two kills from Ajack Malual to clinch the first set win.

From then on, Chaminade rode the momentum and controlled the match the rest of the way, en route to the three-set sweep.

Daisy Duke ended the night with a team-high nine kills and Samantha Campion ended with eight kills. Avery Percival served five service aces and led the defense with 18 digs.

As a team, the Broncos hit just .097, their lowest offensive output of the season. Meanwhile, the Silverswords slashed a .290 on offense, getting a match-high 11 kills from Sasha Colombo.

Cal Poly Pomona reached the regional semifinal for just the third time in program history in the NCAA's current playoff format, which was instituted in 1998.
