NCAA DIVISION II REGIONAL RANKINGS

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team has been placed at No. 5 in the second official NCAA Division II West Region Rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA.

Should the Broncos (18-5) remain as one of the Top 8 teams in the West Region when the 64-team NCAA tournament field is announced on Nov. 13th, CPP will have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 18th time in program history, and for just the third time since 2008. In last year's NCAA Tournament, CPP lost to Cal State LA in four sets in the regional quarterfinal in San Bernardino.

The announcement of the 2022 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Tournament will come via a live selection show at NCAA.com on Sunday, Nov. 13th at 7:00 pm. The NCAA will release updated regional rankings at NCAA.com every Wednesday afternoon leading up to the selection show in two weeks.

Alaska Anchorage (23-2) earned the top spot in this week's West Region rankings and is in line to host the West Regional should the Seawolves remain at No. 1 the rest of the way. Western Washington (17-5) captured the No. 2 spot ahead of Cal State LA (19-5) and Cal State San Bernardino (18-5) in No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. After CPP at No. 5 is No. 6 Central Washington (14-9), followed by Sonoma State (18-6) at No. 7 and Northwest Nazarene (16-7) at No. 8. On the outside looking in is No. 9 Chaminade (19-7) and No. 10 Point Loma (18-6).

Cal Poly Pomona, which is ranked 23rd in this week's AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll and tied for second place in the CCAA standings at 12-4, will play its final two regular season matches at home Friday against San Francisco State at 5:00 pm and Saturday against Cal State Monterey Bay at 2:00 pm. Having clinched a spot in the CCAA Tournament already, the Broncos will then head to San Marcos next weekend.
