OFFICIAL AVCA RELEASE

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Daisy Duke and Caitie Mueller have been selected to the 41st Annual American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II All-America Team, it was announced by the organization Wednesday on the eve of the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals set to take place Thursday through Saturday in Seattle, Wash.

Duke, an opposite side hitter from Rancho Cucamonga, was one of just 14 Division II volleyball student-athletes across the country to be voted to the First Team, while Mueller, a setter from San Clemente, earned a Honorable Mention.

Daisy Duke is just the fourth student-athlete in CPP volleyball history to earn a selection to the AVCA All-America First Team. Also just the second CCAA Player of the Year in program history, Duke ended the season with a CCAA-best 439 kills, which is tied for 10th all-time in a single season in program history, and the most since 2008 when the NCAA went to its current 25-point scoring format. Her kills per set average of 4.03 was second in the CCAA this season, seventh all-time in a single season in program history, and the most since 2008. She hit .346, which is sixth-best all-time, and the third-best since 2008. With 505.5 points, she tied for 10th all-time, and was the most since 2008. She was a four-time conference Player of the Week in 2022, and also earned the GameChanger/AVCA National Division II Player of the Week award for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2.

Duke is up to 916 career kills, and her 3.37 kills per set is third-best in a career in program history. She now has a career hitting percentage of .331, which is second all-time in program history.

This is Duke's second consecutive AVCA All-America honor; she was a Third Team All-American as a sophomore last season.

Caitie Mueller handed out 1036 assists this season, which led the CCAA, and is tied for second-most in a single-season for CPP since 2008. She also served 33 aces, which are tied for seventh-most for the Broncos since 2008.

This is Mueller's first AVCA All-America recognition as she is now just the 13th CPP volleyball student-athlete to be voted AVCA All-America in the 42-year history of the program; Duke was the 12th when she was honored last season.

The 2022 class includes 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 29 schools. Alaska Anchorage, Concordia-St. Paul, and Wayne State (NE) each had two First-Team All-Americans, and Northwest Missouri State led all schools with three players on the first three teams. This year's National Freshman of the Year is Iane Henke of Cal State LA.

The 2022 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division II All-America Committee: Chuck Waddington of Angelo State University (Chair), Tia Brandel-Wilhelm of Ferris State University, Christa Cooper of the University of New Haven, Chris Herron of Washburn University, Gretchen Krumdieck of Georgia College, Laurie Lokash of Slippery Rock University, Mika Robinson of Rollins College, and Jonathan Scott, Point Loma.

Cal Poly Pomona ended the season 24-6 overall, captured the program's first CCAA Tournament title, and reached the NCAA Division II West Region semifinal for just the third time in program history in the NCAA's current playoff format, which was instituted in 1998.
