ALLENDALE, Mich. – Ayana Fields continues to have an impressive season, setting two new Cal Poly Pomona indoor program records at the GVSU Big Meet Friday.
Fields opened the day with a win in the 400-meter race, setting a new CPP record with a time of 54.47 seconds. It marks the fastest time in NCAA Division II so far this season after she beat her runners-up by almost .20 seconds.
Three hours later, Fields set a new program record in the 200m. She took second with a time of 24.15 seconds, just .01 seconds off first place and ranks third in DII. To cap the day, Fields anchored the Bronco 4x400 relay team that took seventh with a time of 3:53.09.
Jade DeSouza also set a new program record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.54m to win the event. The mark also sits third in DII.
Natalie Lin took third in her triple jump competition with an 11.33m jump.
Ana Tovi also broke a record with her 13.41m throw in the shot put. It was good for sixth, followed by
Demisha Price in 12
th (12.09m).
Imani Williams posted a 5.26m in the long jump, while
Keiana Turner led the Broncos with a 15.99m weight throw to take seventh. Tovi followed right behind her in eighth with a personal-best throw of 15.90m and Price took 16
th with a 12.03m mark.
The Broncos are back at The Big Meet on Saturday, hosted by Grand Valley State.
