POMONA -- Cal Poly Pomona sophomore
Ana Tovi has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 21-27, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Tovi won two events at the Rossi Relays on Saturday in Claremont, earning the top marks in the shot put and discus throw events. The sophomore from Upland also placed fifth in the hammer throw.
She threw 14.04 meters (46 feet, ¾-inch) in the shot put and 50.48 meters (165 feet, 7 inches) in the discus, setting two NCAA Championship provisional qualifying marks. Her shot put mark moved her to fifth all-time at Cal Poly Pomona. Tovi's mark in the hammer throw was 43.08 meters (141 feet, 4 inches).
This is the second-career CCAA Field Athlete of the Week award for Tovi, she captured the honor to conclude the 2019 regular season during the week of Apr. 22-28.
Cal Poly Pomona will continue its season at the Beach Opener at Long Beach State on Saturday.
