Jade De Souza will represent the Broncos at next weekend's NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State University and Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau at the Harvey Dean Track in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Fields will return to Nationals for her second appearance, though it will be her first time competing -- the 2020 NCAA Championships were canceled due to COVID. She will run in both the 200 meter and the 400 meter events. She qualified in the 200 after running a 24.08 at the GVSU Big Meet, which is the sixth-fastest time in Division II this indoor season. She also qualified in the 400 with a time of 54.47, which is currently the third-fastest time in the nation.
The preliminary heats of the 400 meter race will take place Friday, Mar. 11 at 2:20 pm Pacific Time (4:20 pm Central), while the preliminary heats of the 200 meter dash is scheduled for 3:35 pm Pacific Time (5:35 pm Central), also on Friday, Mar. 11. Should Fields advance to the finals on Saturday, the 400 will start at 4:10 pm Pacific Time (6:10 pm Central) and the 200 follows at 4:55 pm Pacific Time (6:55 pm Central).
De Souza will compete in the Triple Jump after qualifying with a mark of 12.54 meters in Michigan; the fifth-longest jump in all of Division II this season.
The final Triple Jump event will take place on Saturday, Mar. 12, beginning at 1:05 pm Pacific Time (3:05 pm Central).
