Shackelford Earns NABC All-West Region Award

Cal Poly Pomona senior Phoenix Shackelford has been named to the 2021-22 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-West Region Second Team, it was announced by the organization this week.

Shackelford, the CCAA's Freshman of the Year in 2017-18 and a First Team All-CCAA honoree this year, ended the season as the No. 4 scorer in the conference, posting 16.4 points a game.  The senior from Fairfield also had the league's third-most steals, averaging 2.1 a contest.  He led the Broncos in also every offensive statistical category, including points, field goals made, three-point field goals made, assists, steals and minutes played. 

In 111 career games at Cal Poly Pomona, he scored 1,183 points, which is 12th all-time in CPP men's basketball history.  He also finishes his career with several Top 10 records -- 10th all-time in field goals made (437), fifth all-time in three-point field goals made (143), sixth all-time in free throw percentage (.794) and seventh all-time in steals (166).

This is the first All-West Region Team selection for Shackelford.

Cal Poly Pomona finished the year with a 13-10 record, placing sixth in the CCAA standings at 9-8, and making its fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance before falling the First Round to No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino.
