LONG BEACH, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona competed against a heavy NCAA Division I field at the Beach Opener, hosted by Long Beach State, Friday and Saturday.
Friday saw
Taina Livai take 13
th overall in the javelin with a mark of 37.05 meters and
Keiana Turner place 11
th in the hammer with a throw of 48.95 meters, which sits fourth-best on the CPP record list.
Ayana Fields continued her impressive season, taking second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.03 seconds, just .03 seconds off her personal-best time (which also ranks second in the Bronco record book).
Elisha Salazar clocked in at 25.09 seconds for fifth place and
Jaelyn Thomas rounded out the top 10 with a time of 25.50 seconds (10
th).
Ana Tovi grabbed third in the discus, tossing a throw of 49.18 meters, less than a meter off her personal-best and CPP-record mark of 50.54 meters, set in 2019.
Imani Williams finished sixth in the long jump after posting a mark of 5.53 meters on her second attempt.
Kelsey Ehinlaiye took ninth with her first jump of 5.29 meters.
Elisha Salazar and
Analexis Glaude each finished in the top 10 of the 400-meter race, with Salazar coming in sixth in 58.08 seconds and Glaude clocking in at 58.64 for ninth.
Citlalli Anguiano took 13
th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.79), while Ehinlaiye took 13
th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.58 seconds.
CPP's 4x100 relay team (Ehinlaiye, Thomas, Fowler, Fields) took second in 47.04 seconds, while the 4x400 relay team (Glaude, Salazar, Hatcher, Madrid) closed out the event with a fifth-place finish, posting a time of 3:57.65.
The Broncos head to the Ben Brown Invitational next weekend in Fullerton, Calif.
