POMONA -- Cal Poly Pomona junior Jade De Souza has been selected the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Apr 4-10, it was announced Tuesday.

At the UCSD Triton Invitational in La Jolla, De Souza placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.04 meters (39 feet, 6 inches), which is a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying mark.  The junior from Saint-Genis-Pouilly, France, is now the CCAA leader in the event by more than a foot. 

De Souza also competed in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.96 seconds.

This is De Souza's first CCAA weekly award, and the sixth for a CPP women's track and field student-athlete in the first eight weeks of the spring season.

Cal Poly Pomona will have a busy week competing in Southern California at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Mt. Sac Relays and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach.
