Broncos Split Time Across Three Meets

SAN FRANCISCO – Cal Poly Pomona split time at three different events in the Bay Area.
 
At the Chabot Invite hosted by Chabot College, Dominique Navarrette grabbed an NCAA Division II provisional mark in the discus. He won the event with a throw of 51.06 meters, which ranks seventh in the Bronco record book. Alejandro Sandoval-Guzman took second with a throw of 48.44 meters, while Aaron May made it 1-2-3 for the Broncos with a third-place finish of 46.29 meters. Thomas Tuff took fifth (44.15 meters) and Gerardo Flores finished with a 43.30-meter throw.
 
Sandoval-Guzman won the shot put with a throw of 15.41 meters. May followed in third with a 14.96-meter throw, while Tuff posted a throw of 14.01 meters.
 
May picked up a first-place finish in the hammer with a throw of 51.63 meters. Navarrette took fourth with a throw of 45.13 meters and Tuff took eighth at 44.03 meters. Sandoval-Guzman finished with a toss of 41.76 meters.
 
At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, hosted by San Francisco State, Kristian Kimberlin took third in the 800-meter race with a time 1:53.78. Jalen Jenkins clocked in at 1:58.31. Kimberlin also ran in the 1500m and finished with a time of 4:00.51.
 
Leandro Candray also had a top-five finish in the 10K, posting an NCAA Division II provisional mark time of 29:57.17 to take fourth overall. It's also the seventh-fastest time in CPP history. Gideon Pichardo finished in 30:56.43, while Diego Duran clocked in at 31:32.35 and Alejandro Mariscal had a time of 32:00.90.
 
Christian Coley posted a time of 14:57.35 in the 5K, followed by Vincent Sarino (15:07.61).
 
At the Stanford Invitational hosted by Stanford, Ryan Fields won his 110-meter hurdle prelim with a time of 14.06 seconds and followed with a 14.08 second performance in the finals, which was good for first place. Nnamdi Onwaeze also qualified for the finals with a prelim time of 14.45 seconds, followed by Alessio Sommacal in 14.52 seconds. Sommacal took fifth in the finals (14.26) and Onwaeze finished seventh in 14.79 seconds.
 
Fields also won the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 52.21 seconds. Jaelen Craft and Kaelin Moore came in one right after the other with Craft taking fourth in 53.00 seconds and Moore following in 53.15 seconds for fifth place.
 
Joshua Johnson finished the 100-meter dash in 10.94 seconds, while Bryce Bushnell clocked in at 11 seconds flat. Johnson also finished the 200-meter dash in 22.06 seconds and Bushnell cross the finish line just .06 seconds after in 22.12 seconds.
 
Camden Patterson finished the 400-meter dash in 49.55 seconds, followed by Jenkins in 49.66 seconds.
 
In their second event of the week, Sandoval-Guzman took fifth in the discus with a throw of 48.20 meters, while Navarrette finished in sixth at 47.97 meters. May finished with a throw of 46.10 meters. Tuff also posted a 41.84 meter throw.
 
May took second in the hammer with a throw of 53.00 meters, bettering his throw from two days earlier by almost two meters. He also took second in the shot put with a heave of 15.18 meters and fourth in the javelin with a toss of 55.35 meters. Sandoval-Guzman took sixth in the shot put at 14.74 meters.
 
Kailen Smith tied for fifth in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters, while Matteo Madrassi posted a 4.61-meter mark in the pole vault. Deandre Smith finished with a jump of 6.51 meters in the long jump.
 
The Bronco 4x100 team took sixth with a time of 41.53 seconds, while the 4x400 relay team finished fourth in 3:14.30.
