POMONA -- Cal Poly Pomona thrower Keiana Turner has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, for the week of March 28-April 3, it was announced Tuesday.

Turner won the collegiate section of the hammer throw at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday with a personal best toss of 50.71 meters (166 feet, 4 inches). The throw is currently the second-best record among all CCAA athletes in 2022.  Turner's mark is the third-best recorded in Cal Poly Pomona history.

The sophomore from Riverside also competed in shot put and discus.  She posted an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.74m (38' 6.25") and was ninth in the discus throw with a distance of 32.54m (106' 9").

This marks the fourth consecutive week that a CPP student-athlete has won the CCAA women's field weekly award, and it's the fifth time out of the seven-week season thus far that a Bronco has earned the recognition.

Despite the success in the Bay Area this past weekend, the CPP women's track and field team fell two spots in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II national rankings this week to No. 7, and fell one spot in the regional rankings to No. 3.

Cal Poly Pomona will compete at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla on Saturday, April 9.
