CCAA RELEASE
POMONA -- Audrey Brown recorded back-to-back shutouts as the Cal Poly Pomona team went to Colorado and came back with four points en route to winning the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 5-11.
The freshman goalkeeper made nine saves on the week and recorded her first collegiate shutout. She did not allow a goal while playing all 180 minutes.
"I am really proud of Audrey and the teams' performance this weekend on the road," said head coach
Jay Mason. "She came up with some key saves for us in critical moments of the game."
The Broncos opened their trip with a 2-0 win over Regis. Brown faced 10 shots in the contest, four on goal, and stopped them all. On Saturday, against No. 22 Colorado School of Mines, Brown matched her career-high with five saves as Cal Poly Pomona earned the 0-0 tie on the road.
The La Crescenta native is allowing just .889 goals per game with a .818 save percentage during her first season.
"I am honored to receive this award," said Brown. "The results of this weekend are thanks to my entire team who played for each other and helped defensively no matter their position."
Brown is the first Bronco to win a CCAA weekly award since
Sydney Williams on Oct. 19, 2021.
Cal Poly Pomona has just one game on the schedule this week. The Broncos will welcome in Azusa Pacific for a match on Saturday, Sept. 17, to close out their non-conference schedule.
