ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos traveled to New Mexico to compete in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational and improved on five personal bests against Division I competition.
The Broncos started the meet with the weighted throw.
Keiana Turner threw for 14.55m (20
th) and
Shona Christensen secured her personal best throw at 10.81m (35
th). Christensen placed 26
th in the shotput as she threw 12.13m and Turner tossed 11.35m (35
th) on the event.
Sarah Lindenthal jumped 1.55m in the high jump for a 16
th place finish. In the long jump,
Kelsey Ehinlaiye leaped a distance of 5.45m (14
th) to move up the Broncos record book into second place.
In the 600m race
Arissa Hatcher finished with a time 1:38.81 (12
th place) for a new personal best and now holds the Broncos record.
Ayana Fields finished the 60m with a time of 7.52 (16
th). Fields went on to finish 12
th in the 200m with a time of 23.64 and Ehinlaiye improved on her personal best with a time of 25.27 (15
th) sitting her in second place in the Broncos record book.
Susie Fowler finished with the top time for the Broncos in the 60m hurdle with a time of 9.12 (19
th) placing her third in the Broncos record book. Behind Fowler,
Citlalli Anguiano crossed the line with her personal best time of 9.25 (25
th) and Lindenthal also sealed her personal best with a time of 9.61 (31
st).
The next meet for the Broncos will be on Jan 28
th when they return to the University of New Mexico to compete in the UNM Team Open.
