Daisy Duke and
Kaitlan Tucker came up big for the No. 25 Broncos on senior day, leading CPP to a 3-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay. With the win, the Broncos finish the regular season with a 20-6 record, marking the third consecutive year, and 18
th time in program history, that the team has reached 20 wins in a season. The team also finished an impressive 12-1 at home, winning 38-8 (.826) sets in Kellogg Arena this season.
Duke followed up her career-best 25-kill performance on Friday with 21 more on Saturday, inching her closer to fourth on the all-time CPP kills list with 1,213. Saturday was the 65
th game in her career where she recorded double-digit kills, and the 11
th time she passed the 20-kill mark.
Tucker collected eight kills against the Otters, swinging at a .421 clip to go along with Duke's .429. Tucker also tied
Madison Novak and
Alexia Athans for the most blocks on the team at three a piece.
In a mirror image of Friday's match, the Broncos won the first set, then dropped the second before bouncing back in the third and fourth to take the 3-1 victory. The team's 64 kills on Friday and 58 kills on Saturday are two of their top three kill totals on the season. Ironically, their top four matches with the most kills this season all came against Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.
Setter
Caitie Mueller dished out 39 assists against the Otters, bringing her season total to 972 – which is the 23
rd most in all of Division II. She is now 197 away from cracking the Top 10 for most assists in a season in CPP history. Her 972 assists already ranks fifth-most in a season during the 25-point scoring format (since 2008).

The Broncos finish the regular season tied for third place in the CCAA with a 13-5 conference record. Because CPP lost the head-to-head matchup to San Francisco State, the Broncos were seeded fourth in the upcoming CCAA Tournament taking place next weekend on the campus of Cal State LA. The Broncos look to defend their 2022 CCAA Tournament Title.
As the four seed, the Broncos will face the No. 5 seed Sonoma State Seawolves (17-8) in the CCAA Quarterfinals on Thursday, November 16
th, at 5:30 PM. The two teams faced each other a few weeks back, when the Seawolves defeated the Broncos in five sets. The two teams are 5-5 in their last 10 matchups against one another.
Should the Broncos win that game, they will advance to the CCAA Semifinals against the No. 1 seed Cal State San Bernardino Yotes - who received a first-round bye - on Friday, November 17
th, also at 5:30 PM. The Green & Gold have had recent success against the Yotes in the postseason, eliminating them from both the CCAA Tournament and the NCAA West Regionals in 2022.
