Multiple First Place Finishes for Broncos In San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos Ryan Fields, Dom Navarrette-Perez, and Matteo Madrassi each take first in their respective events at the Mangrum Invitational Friday.
 
Fields had another outstanding performance at the Mangrum Invitation as he placed first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.53 and second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.28.
 
Navarrette took his own first place finish in the shot put as he tossed a distance of 15.43m, and also won the discus with a throw of 49.94m ranking him eighth nationally.
 
Also winning his event was Matteo Madrassi who won the pole vault event clearing a height of 5.12m and is now ranked third in the NCAA Div. II performance list.
 
In the high jump, both Kailen Smith and Justin Cardoza placed second clearing a height of 2.04m for a fifth place national ranking.
 
Lorenzo Boyd placed second in the 100 meter with a time of 10.63 and Bryce Bushnell crossed the line in the 200 meter at 21.59. Jake Tilford had a second place event finish in the 400 meter with a time of 48.24.
 
In the 800 meter, Vincent Sarino sealed a third place finish crossing the line at 1:55.50. Chris Razo placed fifth in the 3000 steeplechase making the provisional mark with a time of 9:10.11 and now ranks eighth nationally.
 
The Broncos 4x100 relay team of Bryce Bushnell, Boyd, Joshua Johnson, and Fields placed third at the event and now rank fifth in the nation with a time of 40.57. The 4x400 team of Jake Tilford, Camden Patterson, Kaelin Moore, and Fields took second at the meet with a time of 3:14.89 ranking them seventh nationally.
 
The Broncos next meets are at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, the West Coast Relays, and Vince O'Boyle Classic held the March 30th-April 1st.
