NCAA DIVISION II REGIONAL RANKINGS

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team is "Under Consideration" to qualify for the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Tournament, according to the first official regional rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA. 
 
New this year for NCAA Division II sports with regional rankings, schools will be listed as under consideration in alphabetical order for the first ranking of the season.
 
In the West Region for baseball, eight teams are listed this week, including five from the CCAA – Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, San Francisco State and Stanislaus State. Azusa Pacific, Hawaii Hilo and Point Loma from the Pacific West Conference are also under consideration this week. No teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) were included.
 
Next week's rankings will reflect the actual regional rankings.

Should the Broncos (24-17) be one of the Top 6 teams in the West Region when the 56-team NCAA tournament field is announced on May 14, CPP will have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history, and for the eighth time in the last 11 seasons. The Broncos earned the CCAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament last spring by virtue of winning the CCAA Tournament, but CPP lost the first two games of the double-elimination sub-regional in San Diego which ended its season.

The announcement of the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Tournament will come via a live selection show at NCAA.com on Sunday, May 12 at 7:00 pm. The NCAA will release updated regional rankings at NCAA.com every Wednesday afternoon leading up to the selection show in three weeks.

With four games remaining in the regular season for Cal Poly Pomona, the Broncos are sixth in the CCAA standings at 16-15. The 2023 CCAA Baseball Tournament is set for May 10-13 on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside.
