FINAL RESULTS
AZUSA, Calif. – A week after winning its second consecutive CCAA championship, members of the Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team took part at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet in Azusa to improve upon personal-bests to improve their shot at qualifying for the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships later this month.
Highlighting the weekend was
Deandre Smith, who shattered a 32-year-old program record in the Long Jump with a career-best mark of 7.60 meters. Three other Broncos also bested their lifetime-bests in Azusa.
The selections for the 2023 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships will be announced Tuesday

RECORD BOOK UPDATES
- Deandre Smith shattered the program record in the Long Jump with a mark of 7.60m, erasing a 32-year-old CPP record of 7.50m held by Don Parish in 1991. He also owns the 9th-best mark in Division II in 2023.
- Alessio Sommacal ran a personal-best 14.13 to win the 110m Hurdles event, which moved him up one spot to 5th all-time in program history in the event and is the 27th best in Division II this spring.
- Alessio Sommacal also ran a career-best 52.02 to win the 400m Hurdles, moving him to No. 4 all-time at CPP and 18th in Division II this season.
- Gavin Hanes got over the 4.87m bar in the Pole Vault to secure a new personal-best and plant himself in a tie at No. 8 all-time at CPP.
- Justin Cardoza set a new personal-best in the Triple Jump with a mark of 15.04m, which is now No. 8 all-time in program history in the event.
